I was browsing a small business forum the other day and notices a post by a business owner. The business owner had hired a “SEO Expert” to increase their rankings in the Search Engines. After nearly a year, their website was no where near the top of any Search Engine.
He emailed his site to me to take a look at it for him. It only took a second looking at the source to realize this guy had hired the wrong person to do SEO on their website. A quick look at his site with my Firefox SEO extension showed no backlinks.

Internet Directories - Do They Still Provide Benefits To Webmasters

There was a time not too long ago that if you needed a boost in the Search Engine Rankings all you had to do is submit your site to hundreds of Internet Directories and watch your website or blog crawl up the SERPS.
Fast forward a few years and that’s not necessarily the case any longer.
Oh Directories, How I Use To Love Thee
As I said above, in the past Directories were a short cut to a bundle of backlinks that would help your rankings.
So what has happened?
The same thing that happens to many good things on the Internet.

MyBlogLog - Is Yahoo Killing It

Today I had a few extra minutes and thought I’d do some blog browsing. I visited some old favorite blogs and noticed one thing that concerned me.
Many of the blogs that I visited had removed the MyBlogLog widget. So then I logged into MyBlogLog account and noticed that there were fewer subscribers to some of the communities and my own community had shrunk.
In fact, when I looked at the top 10 A-list bloggers, I noticed only 1 had the MyBlogLog widget on their site.
What Has Caused the Exodus of MyBlogLog Subscribers?
So I started doing a little research into why this was happening.

This series reviews two programs I use to make money with the CJ Network and the Ebay Affiliate Program. I use the BANS program for building new stand alone websites or making over existing websites. AffiliateWatcher.Com Named As One Of The Top 50 Marketing Blogs To Watch In 2008

Wow, what a way to come back from vacation! I know, I should have followed my own advice about what to do with your blog while on vacation, but I wanted to do a few experiments while I was gone. I’ll let you know the outcome of these experiments in another post. But right now, I want to share some good news that I found in my inbox when I got home.
I don’t usually toot my own horn, and I’m not going to start now. Why? Because Evan Carmichael at EvanCarmichael.Com has done it for me! Evan runs a very information packed site about Entrepreneuring. His site has been featured in main stream media outlets like the New York Times, Dallas Morning News, The Globe and Mail and many others.
